I came across this article, and I have to wonder if they misquoted the time the dog and handler trained at the school. It says three months, but that seems kinda fishy to me. No idea... Thoughts?

In the meantime, I'm off shortly to help out with the weekly Braille class, as per usual. Take care all, more later. A real update to come sometime soon.

I'm thinking they meant "weeks" not "months." Because, yeah that's a bit absurd.

Indeed. Yay the media for misquoting things.
Take care, and thanks for the comment. I hope all is well.

Have fun helping out! I wish there were things like that to do around Pine Bluff. Sounds fun! I hope your week goes great.

that's awkward.. i guess it depends on the person...
although i agree with the others... perhaps "weeks" was supposed to be written in.
we'll never know..
oooh braille! gosh I miss that class at NIU so much.. I have to take advanced braille in the spring.

I definitely think it was suppose to be weeks. Yay for media misquoting things...
Yay Braille indeed! I'm slightly obsessed about its importance and anything and everyone having to do with it... (I learned to read when I was very young).
Take care, and thanks for the comment.

guide dog training

Hi Liz... I think you're right...generally guide dogs spend 3 months in training. The first two months it's just a group of dogs with their trainer. The person who is visually impaired who will become the user usually is there only for the third month. You already knew that. The reporter got it mixed up. Take care... John

I figured that's what it was and the article was misquoted. I guess there *could* be special circumstances where a person needs to stay longer, (I actually know of that happening), but not for three months. (Although, I would definitely stay three months, especially for the food!).
Take care, and thanks for the comment.
