It's a Sunday morning, and I figured I should check into the journal as I haven't done so in awhile, save for voice posts that people may or may not listen to.
Things in my corner of this planet we call Earth have been more or less fine. I continue to help out weekly with the Braille class, do a good bit of reading, (I haven't yet finishd with my first book of 2009, but am reading several and will keep a booklist again this year as mentioned previously), and spend time with friends and family when I can. I went shopping yesterday with my grandmother, and we successfully managed to find thingss I needed, which was in contrast to the day before, when that was not the case. I did, however, get to see one of my aunts who I don't get to see too often as she lives across town. It was good to visit with both she and my uncle.
There was goalball practice yesterday, but I couldn't go due to the President-Elect. That's right, Obama made me not be able to attend practice. Hahaha! He and Biden took their Whistle Stop train journey yesterday, and as a result Septa was on a very delayed schedule. The first Greyhound left later than I needed in order to get there, so no practice for me. Obama and Biden both spoke in Wilmington, and if I had had a way to get there or a car and could drive, believe me, I so would have been!
No news on the job front yet, but I continue to pursue the leads I have for summer opportunities. I got word that my application has been received for one of them, and that they'll let me know what they decide. The application deadline isn't until February first, but it's nice to get it in early, and it's doubly nice when the people that I sent it to reassure me that it was received. The other lead's deadline isn't until March something--the fifteenth maybe?--but that application, too, has been sent in and received--since sometime in October. I'll be sure to report any further developments or news on such things when I get it.
I need to schedule my Greyhound for Washington Seminar, which I plan to take care of this week. I'm looking forward to going, and it'll be nice to get a change of scenery for a few days as I haven't had that in awhile. Hopefully I can meet up with people when I'm there. I know of a few people who are going as is.
Hmm, what else? Later this afternoon, I'm going over to my grandparents' to watch both football games. Both games promise to be intense, (at least I hope so), and so it should be good times, although I think that depends on who ends up winning. It's hard to believe that the Superbowl is right around the corner. Didn't football just start yesterday?
I plan to tune into the inaugural events on Tuesday, even if I can't be at the ceremony, another thing that I would have loved to have done. On the otherhand, though, it's probably safer watching from this vantage point, and I heard or read somewhere that government officials are actually urging people against coming due to tight security and the massive crowds that are bound to populate the area during the event.
I think that's about all from here, even though I'm sure that as soon as I post this, I'll remember something I had meant to put in here. Ah well, so it goes. Take care all, more soon.

Date: 2009-01-18 05:09 pm (UTC)And I'm kind of wondering what this Washington Seminar thing is. I keep hearing about it all over my FL. Whatever is the case, I hope you enjoy it and gain something from the experience.

Date: 2009-01-19 06:56 pm (UTC)I can’t root for the Steelers. They have some of the crudest, unsportsmanlike fans in the NFL, (they really annoy me if you can’t tell, lol). AT least the Eagles lost. I can take comfort in that.
