A quick update
Sep. 7th, 2008 02:45 pmIt's been awhile, and I haven't updated. Yes, I do realize this. Things have been going fine. I've been doing a bit of reading and keeping up with the RNC, or some of it anyway. If people want links to some of the speeches, let me know, and I can put them up. I don't really mean to come off as one-sided and not put up an entry about the RNC as I did with the DNC as I really have been paying attention to both sides, but as I am a supporter of Obama...
I listened to Sarah Palin's speech on Wednesday night, and it honestly pissed me off. I was literally yelling at the TV. No one was around at the time to hear me, so it didn't matter. She, I felt, played the "Child with Special Needs" card, and I wasn't feeling that all. Uh, your son is four months old, don't give me crap about how you're going to be a friend and advocate for people with "special needs", yada yada yada. I believe I know a bit more about advocacy than you do, even if I am only 23. Have you done your research into the laws and such? Uh yeah, wow, sorry, see? This is what happens... Also, McCain is 72, so if he is elected and something should happen to him, then God help us! That's only scratching the surface, but I'll refrain from further comment, I will. Except to add that the joke Palin made in the middle of her speech was, I thought, weird. Oh yeah, and she deliberately attacked Obama and Biden, while neither man made any direct attacks to the Republicans during their speeches. I was very annoyed by that and didn't think it fair in the least. And her husband is a snow machine racer? Well, good for him... Seriously! Oh, yeah, I said I was done, didn't I? Oops! I'd be interested to hear other peoples' opinions on either side of the fence.
Aside from that, not too much is up. I talked to two friends today that I haven't talked to in awhile, and that made me very happy. It was good to catch up with them. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go to the Guiding Eyes walkathon that is the weekend of October 11th. That's the same weekend as another event I want to go to that's being put on by the Blind Sports Organization. I'm thinking of trying to go to both, if that's at all possible. I thought about not going to walkathon, but that school is so much like an extended family to me that I think it would be hard not going, I honestly do. This will be my fifth walk in a row if I go. Not only that, I get to see people there that I only see that one time a year, friends included. I might be able to room with a friend, and if I can, that will make my decision easier. I'd probably take Greyhound over Amtrak if I do go. Yay for not being employed yet, although as
amazingstar said recently, I'm honestly not really worried about it. It'll happen when it's suppose to happen. I mise well enjoy myself in the meantime, right?
We have company over this weekend, and so I want to go hang with them. I think we may go to a local bar later tonight to hear a local band, as is per usual on Sundays. I've read and commented to some of the Friends' page. Do know that even though I don't update daily, I still do try and read and comment when I can. Even if I don't comment, that doesn't mean I don't read or listen in regards to voice posts. I really am grateful for all of you on my Friends' list. It's amazing how many people I've met through LJ, it really is. Take care all, and I'll be back sooner rather than later.
