I'm actually writing in this thing, hopefully the world won't come to an end. Sometimes, though, voice posts are just convenient, and because I am able to use them, I do.

The first week of classes went well enough. I think I last updated on Tuesday, which means that my first batch of Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes was on Wednesday. Getting to and from wasn't all that scary, and I was able to get help for the parts that I was unsure about from nice people, so that's a good thing. I had the professor I have for Chinese Religions this semester last year for Indian Religions, so it was nice to already be familiar with a professor and the format of the class and grading style. My computer class will hopefully not be too bad, I really like the professor so far. He's a lot more laid back and not completely formal, so that's good. He's formal, don't get me wrong, but he comes across as someone who you can easily come to if you have problems and not feel uncomfortable with. Our first assignment was posted with a duedate of Friday, but I think that will end up being extended because something about WebCT accounts not being active by then. Last time I checked, I wasn't listed for CISC220 in WebCT, so who knows? I haven't started the assignment yet either anyway. I've looked at it, but I need to figure out the whole deal for programming this semester as far as tools and whatnot go. I'll hopefully be meeting with my reader who helped me last year to decide the deal with that soon. I haven't as yet installed Cygwin on this laptop either. I forget the steps involved, and I need to find someone who would know as I assume it might be helpful to have that on here. Ah well, I'll figure it out.

The one Philosophy class that I added, Philosophy of Mind, which is on Thursdays at 2:00, looks like it'll be a fun and interesting class also. The professor seems really nice, but unfortunately all of his handouts are in PDF format as they were photocopied from a book or whatever it is, so I'm having to run the PDF's through Kurzweil's virtual printer to even make any sense out of them. Because of this, sometimes the recognition isn't 100%, so I'm left having to guess what some parts of the assignment says, which may or may not be easy depending on how blurred the text is. There were a few questions on the first two assignments I sent back to him where that happened, one of the occasions being that I couldn't tell what the question said as it didn't come out clearly. I let him know that that was an issue, and hopefully he'll be understanding. I'd gladly answer every question if I knew what it asked or if I could read the text in order to answer it. The trials and tribulations of a totally blind college student...

Aside from classes, this week has been fine. I had Mobility on Thursday, which went well. I'm feeling more comfortable with my Monday/Wednesday/Friday route, and I guess with practice I'll keep feeling more so. It's a complicated route, so the fact that I'm able to do most of it by myself is definitely nothing to be ashamed about. Friday night, Peter came down, and that was nice, as always. He would have been down earlier, around one, but he had to go to Aaron's to try to fix his computer. He ended up fixing it, so that's a good thing, even though as a result he ended up getting here four or so hours later than planned.

Yesterday I just hung around school, Kathryn coming over in the afternoon, and she, Peter and I heading down to Main Street and Grottos after going to Trabant and realizing that most of the food places there were closed. At least that was better than on Friday, when Peter and I had gone to both Perkins and Trabant, in the pouring rain and cold wind mind you, to discover that nothing was open. It was only around 9:00, too, so it amazed me that things were closed that early. Maybe it was because of the rain, who knows? Although, if it *was* because of the rain, I'm sorry, but I honestly think that's a slightly lame excuse to close...

We came back from lunch and all hung around my room some more. I thought I was going to go home last night, but that didn't end up happening, although Kathryn ended up leaving to go home. I thought Kristen was going to be coming back later than she did, so I wasn't packed yet and figured it would just be easier if I went home later. Peter eventually left around six, and I spent the rest of the night scanning and on the computer.

Today in the morning I finished scanning the one book completely, (something like 780 pages in a matter of four days; I think I averaged 100 pages an hour actually). While scanning, I was on Ventrilo and also on the phone when the phone calls presented themselves. I left around maybe around one or so, I can't honestly remember, to come home, which is where I am now, on my laptop, writing this. I'm going to stay here tonight and go back to school sometime tomorrow, yay for living close enough to home that I can actually do that!

All in all, things have been good, and I can't say that I really have anything to complain about. I very much enjoyed spending time with [livejournal.com profile] unfinishedpoem, as always. It's nice that we don't live too far away from each other and seeing one another isn't really an issue. I also got to see Alison who I use to go to breakfast with and hang with last semester. She has class here every other Wednesday, and this past Wednesday was her first class, so she stopped by to say hi. I miss the fact that many of my friends have either graduated or transferred, and so aren't around anymore. I also have to say thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kwviola for letting me borrow the books for my Chinese Religions course to scan. That saves me some money, for which I'm definitely thankful, especially for the fact that I wouldn't do anything with the books after I scanned them, and wouldn't be able to return them to the bookstore after that if I bought them anyway.

Alright, I really do think that's it, and this entry is probably long enough as it is. I think I'm going to just chill for awhile, maybe read a bit for class later, I don't know. I have some reading to do and a small paper, but the paper really isn't due until Wednesday, so maybe I'll wait on that. Either way, take care guys, more soon.
