Christmas Eve And No Other Stories
Dec. 24th, 2005 10:22 amRegarding the subject, those of you who are familiar with Trans-Siberian Orchestra and their album titles may only fully understand it, but so it goes. For those of you not familiar with said group and/or album titles, it's just a spin off of their album Christmas Eve And Other Stories. That said, I now return you to the regularly scheduled entry.
Where have I been the past two or so days that I haven't updated? I've been home, but I've simply just not put an update in this thing, though I suppose that is soon about to change. For those of you who were able to read my latest somewhat rant of an entry, the time since I last updated this thing and now is about one day shorter than for those of you who weren't able to read it. I just want to say thanks for the comments, and I'll keep the journal updated on what happens. I don't want to go into details here, because you really do have to be careful of who reads this thing.
I guess since I haven't officially updated since Tuesday, the happenings of the past few days deserve mentioning. Tuesday night I really can't remember what I did, but I do know that the tree didn't get decorated, and to my knowledge, it's still undecorated. There are a few ornaments sparcely put on it, but we really need to get the real decorations down and put at least some of them up. My mom wants to at least put up the handmade ornaments my sisters and I made in preschool. As for what else happened on Tuesday night, we went out to dinner to Klondike Kate's for half price nachoes, which was yummy and tasty, even though I ended up getting a chicken sandwich, which I ordered as Miled because the Hot was apparently *really* hot, and they claimed was Mild, although I swear it was Hot. Put it this way: if that was mild, I really don't want to see what Hot is. After dinner, we came back here, and I don't know what I did. I most likely read at some point before going to bed.
Wednesday my mom, Kristen and I went to Borders (the music store) to see the son of one of my Aunt's friends play his dulcimer. Kristen had to go there anyway, because she had gift wrap there with my aunt and grandmother, and my mom and I went because we wanted to hear him play. His playing was awesome, I really enjoyed it. I also deeply enjoyed the mozzorela-stuffed pretzel and the vanilla almond tea I had while there, too. After he played, I actually got to touch his dulcimer and play it, and it's really a cool instrument, one I wouldn't mind learning how to play. It's made of wood, and you play it by lightly hitting these wooden hammers onto the strings to make it sound. We picked up a Christmas CD of him playing, which is really good.
After we left there, my mom and I did some more Christmas shopping, and then we came home. Shortly after I came home, the whole fiasco that was recounted in my last locked entry occurred, and as I said, I really don't want to go into that here for fear of the consequences of doing so. I'll just say that some of the frustrations I had to deal with during the semester haven't ended, and I'm really getting fed up with it and am considering seriously taking action. I really don't think it's acceptable or fair to me what's happening here, and that's all I'll say about that.
Wednesday night I honestly can't remember what I did, besides I'm sure read and talk to various people online, so I guess that covers that. Thursday is pretty much a blur to me as far as what I did--I'm sure I did things, I just don't remember what now. That's the problem when you write these retrospectively, you sometimes can't remember everything you wanted to put in them let alone things you don't necessarily want to put in them. Ah well, such is life, I suppose.
I do remember that on THursday, my mom and I went over to my grandparents' house to pick up an onion from my grandfather that we needed for our soup that we were having for dinner because we didn't have any more onions as the one that we did have was apparently bad. Apparently Mom said it was black, and even when she kept taking layers off of it, it was still black. I'm thinking that probably isn't good, but we went over and got a new onion in exchange for some fudge and four real Florida oranges, so all worked out well.
Thursday night we had the soup for dinner, after waiting for what seemed like for-freaking-ever because the beans were crunchy at first, and having soup with crunchy beans apparently isn't too cool. When I ate it, the beans were still a bit crunchy, but it was still good. I also got a call from Noel on Thursday, and we talked for a bit, so that was good. We seriously really need to talk more than once every three weeks, for real. Other than that, Thursday was just Thursday.
Yesterday wasn't spent doing a whole lot. I read during the day and did other things which I unfortunately can't remember. Last night, after listening to part of a somewhat interesting eddition of Culture Beat, on ACBRI, and eating dinner, my sisters and I exchanged our gifts that we got for each other. I really don't know why we did it yesterday, I was fine with doing it today, on Christmas Eve, but Kathryn and Kristen insisted that we do it yesterday, so we did. We usually do it on Christmas Eve, and since Kristen won't be there tonight due to her working, I said that we could just do it sometime this morning, but we did it yesterday instead. I gave Kristen a $25 gift card to Panera Bread, which she liked, and I gave Kathryn, as one of her gifts, a stuffed lizard puppet, which she seemed to like loads, so that was good. (Why did I just write "loads"? AH well, no matter...). I got Kathry another gift, but she'll get it tomorrow as it's out in the garage and kind of big and just easier to give to her tomorrow. From Kristen, I got a stuffed elephant pillow, which is quite neat, and from Kathryn, a stuffed Donald Duck which is quite neat also, (Donald Duck was my favorite when I was a kid and still is really), and a USB headset, which is also quite neat. I've been told that the microphone I have is fine, but it's nice to have the headset for when I want to use it. ALl in all, everyone was happy.
The rest of the night was pretty low key, so no need to write about that really. That brings to me today, now, Christmas Eve, sitting here, writing this entry. I've been up since around nine, (I woke up at seven, went back to sleep, woke up again at eight, and honestly have no recollection of anything between then and around nine o'clock), and the morning has been pretty relaxing thus far. I should really go find some coffee, because coffee is good, and it helps me to write sometimes and just generally fits the writing mood. Today's plans include shopping, (yes, you heard right, SHOPPING!), because I need to get that one last gift along with the other 400 billion people who need to do likewise. I'm not looking forward to braving that whole aspect, but the store where I need to go shouldn't be all that crowded I don't think. I really did think I was done, but it turns out I'm not. Aside from that, we'll go over to my grandparents' around four or so for dinner and then later church at eight. I really can't wait for church, especially for the traditional singing of "Oh Holy Night" by the same guy ever year. Three or so years ago, he couldn't come sing it, which was quite sad. I really hope he's there this year though that's for sure. I also really enjoy the singing of "Silent Night" with lit candles, it puts me in the Christmas mood I guess, although that song is somewhat sad. Also, the singing of "Joy to the World" is a bit sad for me too, when my sisters and I were little, we were at the same church singing that song, and I vaguely remember my dad having me up in the air holding me while we sang that song. Church should be nice, though, nevertheless, and I'll get to see people who I haven't seen in awhile.
After church, we'll most likely come back here, and I don't know what I'll do. As Kristen can't go to the eight o'clock service, but said she wanted to go to church, I said I'd go with her to the midnight service, and I'm actually looking forward to that. I've never been, and it should be a nice experience. I don't really know if I'm feeling the Christmas spirit yet, but maybe that will come at some point later today. I hope so, anyway.
As this is a long enough entry, I suppose I should end it here and go get dressed and go look for coffee. My grandmother is suppose to be coming over here shortly, we think to see our "decorated" Christmas tree, and I'm thinking it would be a good idea to actually be dressed when that happens. I think I will most likely update later today or early tomorrow morning, and it may even be in the form of a phone post if that's the easiest way of doing things at the time. Until then, Merry Christmas Eve.
