May. 28th, 2005 12:27 pmFor some reason, it's taken me awhile to start this entry. I even had the journal client open earlier, but an entry just hasn't presented itself until now.
I realize it's been a bit over a week since I've last updated. I did go to the beach last Thursday, and was there until Sunday night. I enjoyed the time spent with my sisters and grandparents, and the "get-on-your-nerves factor" was at reasonal levels the whole weekend, quite tolerable in fact.
I didn't do too much at the beach but relax, read, and play games. My grandmother and I played Monopoly, and it wasn't until my sister Kristen came in when the game was two-thirds over and brought it to our attention that we realized that we'd been going around the board backwards the whole time. Naturally I didn't notice, and it really didn't occur to me that the pieces were being moved around counterclockwise as opposed to clockwise. AH well, no matter how you play the game, forwards or backwards, it's all the same for the most part. Monopoly seemed to be the Game of the Weekend, as when Kristen came in, she wanted to play in the game that was already started, but I ended up compromising with her and starting another game when the game my grandmother and I played ended, (I think we just alled it quits, although I think I was in the lead--I remember having both Boardwalk and Parkplace and having two or more houses on each). Seeing as how I'd already been playing Monopoly for something like 2 hours anyway, I was starting to get bored with it by the time Kristen and I started the new game, and so quit playing when it wasn't even half over on the grounds that Kristen won, although even if we had played the game all the way through and I was clearly in the lead, I'm almost sure she would have come up with some theory or excuse as to why she had one and not me. That's just how she is. My two sisters myself and my cousin, AJ, also ended playing another game of Monopoly later that same night, which AJ ended up winning by quite a lot. Three Monopoly games in one night can be especially interesting, especially when, after handing Kristen four five dollar bills in exchange for a twenty, she looked at me like I was crazy, not comprehending that yes, in fact, four fives is the equivalent to a twenty-dollar bill.
Since arriving home on Sunday night, I haven't done to much "fun and exciting". I've continued to validate and scan books for Bookshare, and reading myself. I've started the Discworld series, and I'm very much enjoying it. I'm onto starting the third book now. Reading has actually taken up most of my time as of late. I really should finish scanning the one book I started for Bookshare, but it'll all get done in due time.
I also watched two of the last three final games of Jeopardy, and I was happy with the outcome. I personally didn't want Ken Jennings to win as he'd already won 45 days consecutively I think, and someone else should be able to win. Throughout some of the tornament I think Jennings was somewhat mad that he was losing, but that's just how it goes sometimes. It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game, right? At least I thought so, but apparently there are too many power-hungry, money-hungry people in this world who don't seeit that way. AH well, too bad.
What else has happened? I'm not exactly sure. That's the problem with infrequent updates, they tend to be somewhat longer, (depending on the update, as some of my normal/regular updates are long n themselves, anyway), and you tend to forget details that you knew at the time when they happened that you wanted to put into an entry. I'm not sure why I just referred to some of my updates as being "regular", because I guess that would suppose that some of them would be classified as "irregular", which doesn't really make much sense, or does it?
The weather has been nice as of late, which is definitely a good thing, as long as I'm not out in the sun for too long as it would cause me to turn into a very sunburnt human, no matter how much sunscreen I put on. Not that I would be anything else other than a sunburnt human, because I *am* a human, but now I'm stating the obvious, very bad indeed.
That's all that would be of interest to write about up to the present. I think today we're going to take the dogs swimming, which should prove to be amusing if nothing else.
More when I have it.
