Today, (or what's left of it),  is January fifth, which means that it's my birthday.  I turned 20 today, and I really do feel old.  I've actually felt a lot older than I am in numbers for as long as I can remember now, but the fact that I can say I have now lived through two decades is somewhat scary.

In my short life, I've seen some interesting things:

  1. The Gulf War, (even though I have no memory of it, I was alive then).

  2. The current war in Iraq.
  3. The other such tragedies that have taken place worldwide, (earthquakes, tornatoes, the latest being the Tsunami in Asia...).
  4. The events of September 11, 2001.
  5. The price for school lunches has gone from 85 cents to, (in some places), $1.25.
  6. The past Presidental election--I could actually vote!
I'm sure there's more I could put down, but I can't think of anything else at the moment.

My Birthday was good.  I didn't do too much today by way of productiveness, but it's my birthday, so I can do what I want :).  We had a nice dinner at Benigans, (I don't think I spelled that right).  It's a restaurant, and we've gone there on our birthday for the past forever now, it's a yearly tradition.  I had a really yummy hot turkey sandwich that I could only eat half of, but I had had a somewhat big lunch earlier, and I usually really don't eat that much, anyway.  The waiters and waitresses always come out, clapping and singing a rendition of "Happy Birthday," (the one part my grandfather likes best, and looks forward to every year), and they bought the three of us each a chocolate brownie sundae of which I had some, but not too much--it was too sweet.  After that, we went back to my grandparents, where we were met by my aunt and my two cousins, (my uncle and one baby cousin came to dinner with us along with my grandparents), and had ice cream cake.  I had one piece of this that according to my mom was "small," but I would definitely beg to differ on that one.  The piece was huge in my opinion, but I ate it, anyway, and now I'm still quite full, and chocolated out.  We had 20 candles on the cake, and lit every single one of them, so that was really neat.  I even got to help light three or four of them, and didn't burn myself in the process, definitely a plus :).  All in all, my Birthday was a good one, and I can't wait until next year, I'll be legal!  I'm legal now, true, but next year is the big 2 1.  It really isn't that much of a big deal for me, but it's still something.  We'll do dinner early, as usual next year, and then who knows what after that.  Either way, I'll more than likely con someone into buying me a drink, which probably won't be hard, but who knows?

Tomorrow I don't have too much to do, (nothing that's actually scheduled), but I do have to start on the UofD application, and I'm going to try and finish validating a book for Bookshare that I need to finish.  I haven't as yet heard from the girl who I emailed about a ride back up to school, but I'm not going to worry about that at the moment.  I'm sure it'll all work out.
More later.
/*I started this entry around 11:15, but it's taken me until now to post it what with the few interruptions I've had whilst writing.*/

Not too much is going on that is really update-worthy in my opinion, but I felt compelled to update nevertheless.

Today I've just been working on filling out college and scholarship applications, not exactly exciting, but it's something that needs to be done.  It's actually a relief to start on them and get them done, so that's at least good.

I've also started proofing the aforementioned (in my previous entry) book for Bookshare, but I want to somehow see if I can find the copyright and title information, just so I can varify that the information that's already there is correct.  There are some typos as far as numbers for the years go, which makes it somewhat difficult.  Ah well.

I was watching the news earlier, and they were showing the meeting of the houses of the Senate and Representatives.  They were doing the state roll call as far as votes go for the Presidential election, and when they got to Ohio, some Democrats presented an objection.  Because of this, the meeting was adjourned for two hours or so, and now the separate houses are meeting to discuss the objection.  I doubt anything will come of it, (Bush won, and that's all there is to it), but who knows?  Apparently the objection is being considered an "historic" objection, whatever that means.  This has only happened once before, (either in 1956 or 1959--I think it was 1959, though), so maybe that's why.

And there you have it, what an exciting life I do lead!  :)  I told you that I really didn't have too much to update on, didn't I?  I've now run out of things to say, so will close with this, and write more when I can think of something.
More soon.
